Marathon tracker
Add the runners you are cheering for with their start times, plus a target pace, a live split from a tracking app, or both. You get the clock time each one should pass every mile marker, plus a quick lookup for the spots where you plan to stand.
Runners
When will they reach…
Every marker
- Use each runner's own start time (when they cross the start mat). In a big race that can be 10 to 30 minutes after the gun for later corrals.
- Times can be typed on the number pad. The colon fills in by itself, so 830 becomes 8:30 and 34500 becomes 3:45:00.
- A target pace or goal finish is optional. With only a live split, the rest of the race is projected at the pace they have run so far.
- With both, the projection blends the two. Early in the race it leans on the target, since the first miles are often fast or slowed by crowds. The further along the split is, the more it follows their actual pace (about 60/40 in their favor at the half, and over 80% by mile 20).
- Projections from that point on assume an even pace. Most runners slow down late in the race, so plan to be at the late spots a few minutes early. Updating the live split as new times come in keeps the projection honest.
